Exercises and Solutions

The exercises posted at this site are categorized according to:

  • the source of the exercise (four possibilities)

  • whether or not an answer is posted with the exercise

  • whether or not (detailed) solutions are posted with the exercise

Sources

The four sources of exercises are:

  • Feynman's Tips on Physics by Richard P. Feynman, Michael A. Gottlieb, and Ralph Leighton

  • Exercises in Introductory Physics by Robert B. Leighton and Rochus E. Vogt  (out of print)

  • Exercises for The Feynman Lectures on Physics  by Caltech

  • Other Physics and Math Problems of Interest

Please note that there is considerable overlap in the first three book sources: All of the exercises in Feynman's Tips on Physics appear in Exercises in Introductory Physics, and many of the exercises in Exercises in Introductory Physics appear in Exercises for The Feynman Lectures on Physics.  Other Physics and Math Problems of Interest  is a catch-all for other sources (other than the three book sources).

Answers

When answers to exercises are provided in the books they are also posted here, including all exercises from Feynman's Tips on Physics, most exercises from Exercises in Introductory Physics, and the majority of exercises from Volume I of Exercises for The Feynman Lectures on Physics. Answers to problems from Other sources are posted whenever they are provided by the poster of the exercise or poster(s) of solution(s). (When posted solutions conflict, no answer is posted until it is determined which solution is correct!)

Solutions

Detailed solutions to exercises are provided by posters, and are listed by author's name on each exercise page. Solutions may be posted in any file format accepted for postings at this site (as described on the Post Here page).
